2021 Winter CSA Details

Boldly Grown Farm specializes in growing fall and winter crops. Our CSA is a chance for you to receive a biweekly supply of high-quality, locally grown, organic veggies during the typical off-season. (If you missed the primer on CSAs, check it out here!)

What's in a share?

Our CSA share consists of 10 biweekly boxes, each containing approximately 8-10 different items. Boxes include a core rotating cast of stalwart winter vegetables (carrots, beets, winter squash, potatoes, onions, shallots, garlic, cabbage, etc.) plus freshly harvested items (kale, collards, Swiss Chard, broccoli, cauliflower, radicchio, purple sprouting broccoli, etc.). Value-added products like sauerkraut, pickled peppers, dried peppers and chili flakes brighten up the winter months.

We offer a traditional CSA model in which we share with you the bounty of the season. Our boxes are not customizable, but we work to ensure you receive a diversity of items.

Share size

We offer one share size that's delivered every other week. We estimate this share works well for 2-4 people. We have satisfied members ranging from individuals to families depending on how many veggies they like to eat. Check out some of the photos and sample boxes on this page to get an idea of the quantity of veggies provided in each box. Visit our FAQ for more on share size.

Member engagement

We enjoy sharing our love of food and cooking with our members! Each box is accompanied by an extensive e-newsletter with tips, recipes, produce information and updates from the farm. Our members have consistently rated our newsletters as a highlight of our CSA program. We also provide members with a storage guide to maximize the life of your veggies. You'll have an opportunity to visit the farm during our fall visit day.

Cost and Payment

A winter CSA membership is $500. Discounted shares are are available via our Financial Aid Fund (see below).

The share cost can be pro-rated for one absence by using the coupon code "MISSONE" during registration. If you'll miss a delivery date after you've registered, you may have someone else pick up your share. See the CSA Member Agreement for more details on absences.

 Three payment plans are available:

  • 1 installment: Full payment upon registration

  • 2 installments: Half upon registration; half on September 1st

  • 3 installments: One third upon registration, one third on September 1st, and one third on October 1st.

We accept e-checks (ACH transfer), credit cards, and paper checks. Payment by e-check helps us minimize credit card fees and keep program costs down. If paying for an installment plan by credit card or e-check, your card/account information will be securely stored and charged when your next installment is due.

If you have capacity to pay the full share cost up front, it helps us cover the start-up costs of the growing season—one of the main benefits of the CSA model for farmers.

Members who pay in 1 installment will be entered into a drawing for a copy of Joshua McFadden's Six Seasons cookbook!  Winners will be drawn on July 1 and August 1.

Financial Aid Fund

We believe that healthy, local, organic food should be available to everyone. In pursuit of this goal, we created a Financial Aid Fund to make our program accessible to those who could not otherwise participate in our CSA.

If you would like to access a half-price share, please email CSA@boldlygrownfarm.com to request a coupon code — no application or information required.

We invite our members to contribute to the Financial Aid Fund during the registration process. Your support makes a big difference in our community and helps increase access to fresh, local food. We also donate the value of a full share per season.

Registration and Refunds

We use an online software called Farmigo to manage our CSA. You'll need to create an account to join and pay. If you were a member a previous season, you'll use the same account. We encourage you to sign up early to secure your space at your preferred drop site.

Depending on overall program and individual drop site capacity, we'll accept registrations after the program has begun, prorating the cost based on the remaining distribution dates.

Please see our CSA Member Agreement for detailed policies on absences, missed boxes and refunds/cancellations. We encourage you to review all of the CSA information on our website before you join to make sure it's a good fit. Your registration confirms you understand and accept the information on our website and the CSA Member Agreement
